Even though it's called Phantasy Star Online, this
GameCube version is actually a port of the Dreamcast Phantasy Star Online Ver. 2.
Hopefully it will be more than just a straight port, but it looks good. So far we've seen
that there is a four player split screen mode. For more
information about how the game works, read miffo's PSO and PSO Ver. 2 reviews.
The biggest question is whether or not it will be online. Nintendo
hasn't announced their online plans yet, so we'll have to see how far Sonic Team can go
with this. It was shown working online, though, and it was shown that it CAN be compatible
with the Dreamcast version. Yuji Naka is trying to decide whether or not the two versions
will be compatible because of all the cheating on the Dreamcast servers.
Let's hope so. No release date has been announced yet. |
